Think RE among the winners in business contest Gründergeist

February 3, 2020

Think RE GmbH (called Think RE subsequently) has successfully competed against 18 other innovative start-ups in the business plan competition called “Gründergeist”. As one of the leading contests in Hamburg, Gründergeist is organized by the Wirtschaftsjunioren Hamburg and connects start-ups with investors and decision makers from several industries as well as from the public sector. Think RE has successfully introduced its online marketplace called “RE Wave”, a B2B platform for directly contracting power purchase agreements (PPA) between owners of renewable energy assets (e.g. wind farm) and electricity consumers like corporates and public institutions.

The company was founded in 2019 and has specialized in helping electricity consumers to fulfil their climate targets by sourcing renewable energy projects via PPAs.The jury, represented by five experts from several industries and the Industrie- & Handelskammer Hamburg, finally awarded the RE Wave project with the 2nd price including an attractive cash injection and excellent networks to investors and other supporters of start-ups. The ceremony was hosted in the Renaissance Hotel Hamburg at February 3rd, 2020.

„Our motivation is to support our clients on their way to reduce their greenhouse gas emissions and fulfil their climate targets by closing power purchase agreements (PPAs) directly with the owner of a renewable energy plant. We are glad for being one of the winners in this excellent contest and are motivated once again to transform an electricity consumer into a renewable champion to finally contribute to the energy transition.” concluded Dr. Steffen Hundt, co-founder and CEO of Think RE.
